Who Pays for This?
The Lemke Journalism Project is free to students – including snacks, meals, supplies and transportation.
In addition, LJP has given scholarships to students who are interested in majoring in journalism at the University of Arkansas.
By far, our biggest financial supporters are Tyson Foods Inc., whose gift not only ensures the future of the program but provides funds for new scholarships.
Also, Northwest Arkansas Newspapers Inc. since the beginning has printed and distributed the students’ newspaper for free.
Grants from these sources have also funded the LJP — the University of Arkansas Chancellor’s Office, Wal-Mart Good Works Foundation, and the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation, as well as Tyson Foods Inc.
Lunch sponsors have included, among others, the Hispanic Women’s Organization of Arkansas, the University of Arkansas Admissions Office, the UA Office of Diversity, both the UA and the Northwest Arkansas chapters of LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens), the UA Multicultural Center and the Community Support Center of Rogers.
